The political policies of Abu Torabi Fard known as the lord of captives
Among the few actions and political stances of Mr. Seyyed Ali Akbar Abu Torabi Fard in the ten-year period after his captivity, one can make mention of his special stance against some policies of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani's government, which is an example of his disapproval as It can be seen from the inclusion of his name in the list of agents, and during the days of the reform government and the presidency of Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, as his limited speeches in the parliament attest to.
Membership in the group defending the values of the Islamic Revolution
Another political stance of Seyyed Ali Akbar Abu Torabi Fard is participation in the Association of Defending the Values of the Islamic Revolution as its founding member. On 12th of February 1995, Hojjat al-Islam wal- Moslemin Mohammad Mohammadi Ray Shahri was elected as its general secretary.
The membership of Seyyed Ali Akbar Abu Torabi Fard in the group for the defense of the values of the Islamic Revolution caused him to introduce Reyshahry as the preferred candidate of that association when the country was on the verge of holding the seventh presidential election, in which people such as Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, Mohammad Mohammadi Ray Shahri and Ali Akbar participated ,a decision that caused some people to wonder.
Establishment of LCs Cultural Board
One of the important actions of Mr. Seyyed Ali Akbar Abu Torabi Fard in the 10-year period after the liberation was the establishment and formation of the Liberated Captives Cultural Board in Tehran and some other cities. On wednesday nights of every week, he used to show up at the Institute building in Ferdowsi Square, which was the location of the cultural board of LCs in Tehran, and he was engaged in meeting and talking and solving their problems face-to-face sometimes until sometime past midnight. With a special taste and sensitivity that was criticized by some of his close friends from amidst LCs, he admitted all LCs at the same time and with great patience wrote letters of recommendation to the authorities in his own handwriting in order to solve their problems.
He was kind and forgiving even to those who had been spying for the Iraqis and were against the captives during the difficult period of captivity and had returned to the country with the LCs and had problems, in other words, he had an egalitarian attitude with all liberated captives.
Planning annual promenades
One day in a spontaneous attempt followed by one of the captives named Ahmad Saghafy( who later became handicapped) he started marching towards Mashhad, a wayfaring which later spread to Ghom and Khosravy border. This was developed and at a next stage was carried out by a large number of LCs and even others who sought a sort of spiritual benefit from that wayfaring-cum-pilgrimage.
As he himself said, in addition to the decision he had made in his youth, he had planned this wayfaring as a ritual vow during his captivity, in order to realize it if all the captives were freed from captivity.
The walking routes of Seyyed Ali Akbar Abu Torabi Fard and his companions included the following :
A: Imam Khomeini's shrine to Mashhad, along which the prom started in August every year and lasted for 17 days.
B: From the shrine of Imam Khomeini to the shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUHS), which lasted for three days during the second Fatemiyeh period (3rd of Jumadi al-Thani).
C: From the Mursad Strait in the west of the country to the last border point at Khosravi .Due to the closure of the road to Karbala, Haj Abu Torabi Fard said the Hazrat Seyyed al-Shohada Arafah prayer at the border point along with thousands of devout Muslims and lovers of Karbala all in a religious ecstacy.
This ritual continued after Imam`s death and was held for the last time in Karbala (Bein al-Haramin) after the fall of Saddam's regime. [1]
